Authentication
How to log in to the Lokawatch Safety Officer dashboard and manage your account session.
Logging In
Open your browser and navigate to the Lokawatch dashboard URL provided by your system administrator — typically http://YOUR_SERVER_IP or a custom domain.
Enter your credentials
On the login screen, enter your email address and password. These are set by your administrator during setup, or provided to you directly.
Click Sign In
Click the Sign In button. If your credentials are correct, you will be redirected to the main dashboard.
Session persists across browser restarts
Your login session is saved in your browser's local storage. You will remain logged in until you explicitly log out or clear your browser data.
If you are the first user, your login credentials are the FIRST_ADMIN_EMAIL and FIRST_ADMIN_PASSWORD values set in the server's .env file during installation.
Logging Out
To log out, click your profile icon or user menu in the top-right corner of the dashboard, then select Sign Out. Your session will be cleared and you will be returned to the login screen.
Forgotten Password
If you have forgotten your password, contact your system administrator. An admin can reset your password from the server's command line:
docker-compose exec lokawatch-api python manage.py reset-password [email protected] User Roles
| Role | Capabilities |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full access: manage cameras, configure detection rules, manage users, view all alerts |
| Safety Officer | View dashboard and camera feeds, acknowledge violations, mark false alarms, export reports |
| Viewer | Read-only: view dashboard, cameras, and violation log — no action permissions |
For on-premise deployments, keep the number of Admin users minimal. Assign Safety Officer role to daily operations staff.
